Empowering Faculty Through Community-Based Learning: New Canvas Resource Developed by TEK Faculty Fellow
As part of the Emerging Leaders Academy, TEK Faculty Fellow, Hayley Hoffman, developed a Canvas shell for faculty teaching community-based learning courses. The Emerging Leaders Academy, sponsored by the Office for Faculty Advancement, encourages mid-career faculty and professional staff to consider leadership career paths and guides them in developing essential skills for effective institutional leadership. The shell was developed to address needs identified in the TEK faculty learning communities—specifically, the need for faculty-facing resources about developing community-based learning courses and building meaningful community partnerships.
The Canvas shell introduces faculty to the benefits of community-based learning in addition to providing a list of suggested readings and assignments. The shell also includes a list of over 40 the community partners currently working with UK courses. Faculty can request to be added to the shell via this hyperlink.
