TEK Hosts Bookclub to Discuss the Power of Skill Diversity and Transdisciplinary Problem-Solving

TEK is excited to launch a new book club to discuss Range: Why Generalists Triumph in a Specialized World by David Epstein. All UK faculty are invited to join the conversation!

Range explores the value of broad experiences, diverse skills, and interdisciplinary thinking—ideas that closely connect with TEK’s emphasis on preparing students with the skills they need to navigate an increasingly complex world through transdisciplinary education. 

The conversation also supports the University of Kentucky’s commitment to the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education’s 10 Essential Skills. Epstein’s exploration of adaptability, creative problem-solving, collaboration, and learning across disciplines offers an opportunity to consider how higher education can help students develop and apply these essential skills in meaningful ways. As we read and discuss Range, participants will have the opportunity to connect the book’s ideas to teaching, learning, and the development of transferable skills that prepare students for their future careers and lives.

TEK will provide a copy of the book to every participant!
